A video of an inmate engaging a sex act during what was supposed to be a supervised visit has been released, causing the Department of Corrections at Rikers Island to launch an investigation.
According to Dailymail, the inmate at the George Motchan Detention Center complex at Rikers island, whose name has not been revealed, was granted request to see a visitor earlier in June, according to PIX 11. It was during the period that the shocking clip was recorded.
It was gathered that the prisoner who was involved in the act is serving time for an armed robbery charge and is a known member of the Bloods gang. While at Rikers he was placed in punitive segregation, or solitary confinement, according to a source.
In a video sent to PIX 11, the inmate is taken to a private room for his visit, where he is later joined by a female visitor. There are no corrections officer in sight.
After a few seconds, the inmate can be seen beginning to touch the female prisoner intimately, and eventually putting his hands into her pants.
The visitor then gets down to her knees to perform oral s*x on the inmate.
During the interaction there are no appearances by a Department of Correction employee, who was supposed to be sitting in on the visit.
In fact, according to department policy, the only physical contact that is allowed to take place is a short embrace or kiss at the beginning and end of each visit.
The department has now said the matter is 'under investigation.'
'The CO is on the floor. He is not only responsible for the inmate in punitive segregation who gets a visit, but he is also responsible for 50 other inmates,' Elias Husamudeen, president of the Correction Officer Benevolent Association told Pix 11.
He also defended the officer who walked away from the visit in question. According to Hussmudeen, the officers are too short staffed. Though, he did admit that these instances can cause illegal contraband, such as weapons or cellphones, to enter the prison.
He also told Pix 11 that this visitor would likely be banned for life. In fact, she was banned from Rikers Island and other New York prisons for 365 days.
