Polack Satisfied With Kotoko Quality

Asante Kotoko coach Steve Polack is adamant there’s enough quality in the team to achieve their season targets.

Two games in charge and the Englishman has scored full points.

The Porcupines’ struggles, appearing to be
self-inflicted from panicky management decisions which saw to the change of technical handlers, had the team endure an unprecedented streak until last Sunday when a goal from Baba Mahama handed them their first full points in nine league games.

After taking over the team early May, Polack [below] believes there’s no question about the quality off the squad he inherited.

“There is lots of quality in the team, we just need to work hard. I need to keep the guys in good shape,” he said.

“It’s not the matter of the quantity but rather the quality in the team and that is exactly what we have.”

Polack further outlined he will adopt tactical pragmatism over flamboyance in his bid to churn out results for Kotoko.

“It doesn't matter the number of goals you score because at the end of every game, what is needed is the three points. It is nice for every team to score more goals - we'll score if it’s possible but at the end of the day all the three points is what you need,” he noted.

Polack, who recently revealed dreaming about the Kotoko job 10 years ago, defeated Proud United 1-0 in the FA Cup on his debut. He will lead the team to host Great Olympics in a matchday 17 fixture of the Ghana Premier League on June 4.
